What do I do here?

All of you must be wondering why I haven't put up much about my work experience here. The answer is: I did all kinds of work. Sometimes, I would even get lost because I didn't know if I was doing it correctly.

List of things that I have done so far:
- Attended the 1st International Women Entrepreneurs Leadership Summit (June 3-4, 2009)
- Took down notes of all the presentations. Waheeda and I compiled and summarized our notes for their reference purposes
- Attended “EU seminar”
- Had the opportunity to compose a note of thanks to Hillary Clinton, Ambassador Verveer, US Consul General for their contributions to the conference
- Edited and reviewed the letter to Farah Anwar Pandith, the Special Representative to Muslim Communities, Department of State, USA
- Created a database of NGOs, associations and foundations that are relevant to KAGIDER
- Researched on funding opportunities for the Women Entrepreneurship Leadership Fund created as a result of the summit that took place in June

Yesterday, Waheeda and I finally got to meet the President, Gulceren Onanc. A smart, beautiful and confident woman. I was nervous, REALLY nervous to give a quick update about our research on funds. I think it was okay... She was really sweet and infact, quite surprised by the way we adjusted quickly.

OUR COLOURFUL OFFICE!!!!!!

Now, Waheeda and I are part of the WEL Fund project.
What is the WEL Fund you must be wondering?

WEL Fund has been established to raise leaders and entrepreneurs in Turkey and in the region who will carry women leadership and entrepreneurship forward both in their countries and all around the world. Through this fund, they will provide training programs specifically targeted to women in business life and training for women in politics. With the help of this fund, it is projected to organize international summits every year with the participation of politicians, leaders, entrepreneurs and NGOs.

The President briefed on the WEL Fund Business Plan which is structured into five parts as follows:
a. Mission/Vision
b. Organization and International Networking Strategy
c. Funding
d. Marketing
e. References

Under the Mission and Vision section to be done by Nuray (Turkish intern), the importance of a clear and strong document was suggested as it would be presented to ministers, researchers, lawyers, industrialists and international organisations.

Under the organization section to be done by me, it was suggested to follow structures of philanthropic foundations, women’s funds that would be compatible to KAGIDER.

As research has been done on funding opportunities, Waheeda is expected to come up with a list of potential funders based on the previous research and future research to be done. It was decided that the President would work on the marketing section and further assist on the international networking strategy. Lastly, Nuray would work on the References section where sources and past work of KAGIDER would have to be included.

We have to present our work next Thursday!

At the end of our internship, Waheeda and I have to come up with a proposal for KAGIDER based on our data base research to identify and give suggestions the areas that needs to be worked on. That’s a toughie!!!!! This organisation is well-known and reputable in Turkey and now an inexperienced under-graduate has to come up with a proposal. Whooa!!!!

We'll make YIIP proud :)
