"When a nail sticks out, one has to hammer it in"- A Japanese Saying
Ironically, whatever I read or watched over the past two days, I have been coming across sayings and dialogues which relates to my current situation. It happens everytime and I realise that there is a lesson I have learnt each time. I usually don't follow any specific doctrines or practice any fasting ceremonies, but each time I learn from myself and my own experiences.
This is one phase of my life where one cycle or chapter of my life has ended and setting out to embark on a new one. So going back to the saying I had mentioned, I was probably being hammered in inorder not to stick out but did that change me and my outlook to various things?
Have I become more stubborn? Did it make me more determined towards attaining my goals?
I would say yes!
I was at Greenbelt yesterday at Seattle's reading my book. I was missing out on Dasha for we are always there together. I looked outside and I saw the same couple for the third time, an old sloppy White man working on his laptop and a young Filipino girl, naive and an average looking Filipina. I wonder what she gets out of being with this man who is probably the same age as her father.
Greenbelt is one of the most posh areas located in downtown. One will find fine and expensive restaurants, stores and bars in this area. Usually, there are lots of expats hanging out there.
In the mornings, you will find old white men with young filipino girls which disgusts me.
AIMS students also loiter around the place, you would notice a huge group of young Indians talking in Hindi. Surprisingly, you wouldn't be finding them with any Filipino women but if they see an Indian girl, they would just be ogling at her throughout. That's it!
I usually don't come across a lot of Koreans in this place and infact, Chinese too.
I bet they would be in singing in Karaokes or probably playing in one of those cyber nooks .
Gotam says, "opinions can be of little worth". They can either be advocated or refused.
I usually discuss this with my friends when I see how women are being degraded in this society.
On one hand, you see how women are very powerful in this country and on the contrary, you see young girls are being degraded this way.
Philippines as a country also amuses me. 85 percent of the population are Christians/Catholics, you will also find a lot of religion classes being part of the cirruculum until University level which is extremely strange. I never had that in my 12 years of schooling, no religion was imposed on me and we didn't practice any specific religion. We celebrate each religious holiday like Diwali, Eid, Gautama Buddha Jayanti Day and the list goes on.
And Philippines is one of most corrupt countries in the world.
I should probably stop contending with the institutions of Philippines.
